Ambient Cities

A series of curated mixes that act as surrealist passages through a dense metropolis, collaging music of the past and present, and trespassing boundaries between genres. In turn, each mix is itself a city: teeming with life, populated by characters from many worlds, and fueled by strange intersections. Endlessly in flux and capable of inducing waking hallucinations, mixes and cities behave like dreams in motion.

Each mix blends works by other artists with original compositions by William Rauscher.

Curation and multi-channel mixing by William Rauscher
FX processing by Harry Bennett

I wanted AC2 to reflect the immersiveness of city life in sound in a new way. So I made a rough mix out of my selected tracks and sent it to Harry, who then processed it with hardware FX units into three different versions. I then created a four-channel mix by combining Harry's processed versions and my initial dry version together. The final mix has a unique ebb and flow as if you're drifting through a densely layered urban space.

The track curation features chill-out essentials as well as some new finds from distant lands. This is your passport to ambient cities.
